The Department of Public Health has an exciting employment opportunity for an attorney that has a strong interest in public service and promoting public health within our state. We are seeking high caliber attorneys with a strong background in litigation to join our regulatory team.
We are seeking applications for this position for the Department’s Springfield Office. The position primarily involves representing Department in administrative hearings. This individual will also work under supervision and direction of the Chief Counsel and Deputy Chief Counsel to provide general legal services to various programs administered by the Department.
You will represent the Department in administrative hearings, adverse licensure action against health facilities, EMS workers/systems, and environmental health workers. You will act as Department attorney in administrative hearings, including preparations of motions, complaints, orders and similar legal documents and in the presentation of oral and written evidence at such administrative hearings. You will also participate in the legislative process and review bills that impact public health in the state. You will also draft and prepare rules, regulations and standards required in the implementation of statutes and programs administered by the Department.
You must be able to work with minimal supervision, handle a variety of tasks with excellence and possess excellent writing, public speaking and organizational skills.
Experience: 3 years as a licensed Illinois attorney is required and we will not consider any candidates with less experience.
